The official English social media for the Chainsaw Man series announced that the The Movie: Reze Arc will release outside Japan in US theaters on October 29, 2025. It is part of the Sony and Crunchyroll CinemaCon 2025 announcements. This is just over a month after its Japanese debut on September 19, 2025

The official reveal included one of the piece of Japanese art shared for the new film. While the full name of the film is Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc, it is actually an adaptation of the Bomb Girl arc of the Public Safety Saga portion of the manga. This is the fifth part of that story and comes right after the halfway point of the series. As the name suggests, a newly introduced character named Reze is one of the most central characters in it. However, the latest key art only shows Denji as Chainsaw Man.

Sony’s announcement didn’t note when people can start reserving theater tickets in the US for the English release of Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc. We also don’t know if there will be a dubbed version available, or if it will only be shown with Japanese voice acting and English subtitles.

The first season of Chainsaw Man is streaming on Crunchyroll now. As for the manga, it’s currently in the Academy part of the story, and the Aging Devil arc recently finished. Viz Media handles its release outside of Japan, and volume 18 is due to debut on May 6, 2025.

Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc will debut in Japan on September 19, 2025, and it will appear in US theaters in English on October 29, 2025.

Zombie Land Saga will be appearing on the big screen with the movie Yumeginga Paradise. It’ll come out in 2025, though there aren’t any further details about the release window.

You can watch the trailer for the Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise (which literally translates to Dream Galaxy Paradise) movie here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oazU91Pneo4

It starts with a quick recap of how protagonist Sakura died at the beginning of the show. Then, it shows her and the rest of Franchouchou’s career as they worked to become top idols with manager Kotaro’s help. We don’t see any new footage in the trailer, as MAPPA is likely still working on it.

https://twitter.com/zombielandsaga/status/1885281882171969573

Zombie Land Saga came out in 2018, produced by MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames. It stars an aspiring idol and high schooler, Sakura Minamoto, who dies one morning after a truck hits her. Ten years later, a man named Kotaro Tatsumi brings Sakura, along with six other “legendary” girls, to have them form an all-zombie idol group and revitalize the Saga Prefecture. Though it’s an idol anime, it has elements of horror and comedy. Critics and fans also praised the depiction of Lily Hoshikawa, as well as her character arc.

Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise will air in Japan in 2025. You can watch the show on streaming services like Crunchyroll.

MAPPA’s Zenshu Shows How Anime Knowledge Helps in an Isekai

Isekai series are incredibly common in the anime world. Ones in which the person transported to another world also is familiar with games or anime, so they can exploit elements or rely on that knowledge to succeed, are likewise quite prevalent in the genre. With Zenshu, MAPPA’s latest anime now airing on Crunchyroll during the Winter 2025 season, things go a step further by having someone responsible for creating anime being the individual transplanted in another world for an isekai story. The result is us getting to see how that additional layer of knowledge assists a new resident and gives them an edge.

Editor's Note: There will be some minor spoilers for early parts of the first episode of the MAPPA anime Zenshu below. 325i5d

Natsuko Hirose is a prodigy. The Zenshu anime begins with us seeing her at work on a series, with her explaining she went from a graduate to nearly immediately being accepted in the animation world as an animation director, storyboard artist, episode director, then director. She’s an absolute phenom dedicated to her art and work. Her first creation Sukeban Magical Girl: Darkness Academy became a huge hit, and she’s working on an original animated movie called First Love as the show begins.

However, Natsuko is a bit of a failure as a human being, since her hair completely covers her face, especially with a hoodie down, she gets consumed by work and the grind, and even avoids eating. In cases where fixes are needed, she’ll be unclear about direction and just do it herself. Blockages are keeping her from completing the storyboards for the movie. As a result, she’s ignoring caring for herself and cutting her hair until that’s done. In a case of foreshadowing, she reads about director Kametaro Tsuruyama, creator of Tale of Perishing, dying at 60 due to food poisoning. But even though she has that warning of what can happen when someone so driven doesn’t take care of themselves, she continues on her current path and refuses to allow others to help her with the work and storyboards.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-pRH6GuvmI

The in-world series Tale of Perishing is one Natsuko ired. It was designed to be a depressing work following Luke Braveheart as he fought against the Great Void, which kept it from widespread popularity. She loved it and rewatched it, as well as ired Luke. It’s as she is rewatching this that she doesn’t realize the bento she is eating is expired. She es out and wakes up in the world of Tale of Perishing, the work she ired for years. Before a monster can kill her there, Luke and his allies Memerun, QJ, and Unio save her and eliminate the void there.

What’s great in the rest in the first episode of Zenshu is how it handles both good and bad elements of a creative like Natsuko being part of an isekai story. She quickly identifies the authenticity of the characters upon meeting them. Since she’s so familiar with the series, she can pick out when everything will happen. It’s little technical details she picks up on and is aware of, and the initial episode makes me suspect she’ll continue to draw on her experience as an animator and background with the series for her journey in a satisfying way.

However, it also is fantastic because it means pitfall can be noted as well. Natsuko not caring for herself before being transported to this world means she’s appearing as she last did. Her appearance befuddles those she meets. She still has the same bad habits. She’s also so tied to her own identity that she assumes people would know of her fame. She ends up being left behind because of her people skills, forced to deal with things on her own.

I have high hopes for Zenshu, and I hope this anime ends up setting itself apart from other isekai anime due to its heroine. The concept of someone who is not only familiar with the location and people in “another world” paired with experience about creating and developing could result in some new takes on the genre. I hope MAPPA takes it to some interesting places.

Zenshu is now airing in Japan and streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide.

Jujutsu Kaisen Culling Game Anime, Compilation Movie Announced

Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular, best anime series in recent memory. It is certainly the next shonen to take the mantle of best around from the likes of Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia. While Season 2 was exceptional and a large improvement over the first season, the best is yet to come with Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3’s adaptation of the Culling Game Arc.

The longest story arc of the entire series is almost here. There are a couple of shorter arcs that will need to be taken care of first in Season 3, but the star of the show will be the arrival of the Culling Game Arc. I won’t spoil too much here, but there are some light spoilers ahead. As the name implies, this is pretty much a jujutsu sorcerer battle royale. If you liked Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power, this is for you.

It mixes together some of my favorite themes together at once. You get the usual extraordinary action and art this series is known for. In addition, though, you get a healthy dose of death games, which is my favorite category of media in general. That is, of course, if fans can get through the rough parts of the initial few episodes.

The highs of Season 2 are going to lead to some new lows at the start of the new season. The couple of shorter arcs following the aftermath of the Shibuya Incident are forgettable at best. This is mainly since they are there to set up the final portion of this beloved series. But if you are able to get past these weaker episodes, Season 3 will likely be the best season yet.

Some of the series’ best fights ever happen during the Culling Game Arc. Some of the fan-favorite characters go up against each other in shocking ways. I actually appreciate the structure of the arc, too, dividing up the main cast in different locations. This allows the death game to feel better focused than it otherwise would.

Sure, this does mean, though, that you will likely go without seeing some characters. This was particularly noticeable in the manga, as it dragged on a bit longer than it should have. This is why the Vs. Mahito Arc is still my personal favorite in the series since it accomplished so much in such a short time. That said, I think the Culling Game Arc will work much better in anime form. The pacing should be much stronger and faster than in the original manga’s release. It helps, too, that the consistent weekly release schedule will keep fans interested.

When does chapter 237 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga appear?

The one element that might hold back Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is MAPPA. Season 2 had some exceptional animation, but the studio also showed some visual flaws towards the end. I am concerned about the workload for the animators and the stress that is on them. If Season 3 comes out in 2025, which I expect it to, this is a pretty fast turnaround. I am a bit worried if the animation quality will get the attention the Culling Game Arc deserves.

That said, if Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 does find a way to balance a healthy work schedule with quality, this will easily be the best season yet. Without spoiling too much, I even think it will be better than the inevitable final arc of the series that comes after. There is so much that happens during this arc that will shake the core of the anime community. Even with the likes of My Hero Academia’s final season and the Demon Slayer final movie trilogy ahead in 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 could still stand toe-to-toe with them and be the best season of the series, if done right.

Jujutsu Kaisen is streaming currently on Crunchyroll.

attack on school castes the last attack

The official X (formerly known as Twitter) for the Attack on Titan anime teased a screenshot of Attack on School Castes, which is the post-credits scene for The Last Attack. It shows Eren eating popcorn while sitting between geeky Armin and goth girl Mikasa.

Attack on School Castes appeared in volumes 21 to 34, depicting a modern version of the Attack on Titan characters. Everyone lives in a normal high school and it’s a slice of life comedy, in contrast to the much darker main story. Despite the fact that this is basically a canon modern AU, there are quite a few nods to the main series’s quirks and storylines. The post-credits scene for the movie will use the final chapter from Volume 34.

Attack on Titan: The Last Attack is a compilation film of parts 3 and 4 of Attack on Titan: The Final Season. In an interview with Crunchyroll, series director Yuichiro Hayashi said that this is actually the optimal format to watch the finale of the series due to how he originally storyboarded The Final Chapters specials. The movie started airing in Japan on November 8, 2024.

You can watch the Attack on Titan anime on streaming services like Crunchyroll.

Ranma 1/2 Anime Remake Finally Shows Akane With Short Hair

A new key visual for the Ranma 1/2 anime 2024 remake has been revealed, and it shows Akane Tendo with short hair. Additionally, the credit-less version of the ending theme song is out now, and it also features the character with her more iconic hairstyle.

The new key visual features the main cast of the new Ranma 1/2 anime remake with Akane sporting her habitual short hair, instead of the long hairstyle she only briefly has during the early parts of the series. Mappa previously shared the same key visual, but it instead featured Akane’s early hairstyle. The reason for the updated key visual is due to episode five of the new anime adaptation showcasing the event that leads Akane to “change” her hairstyle.

The reason for the updated key visual is due to episode five of the new anime adaptation showcasing the event that leads Akane to “change” her hairstyle.

ranma1/2 ichirou

MAPPA has revealed some more details on Ichirou, who will be a new anime original character in Ranma 1/2. Tomokazu Seki is his voice actor. [Thanks, PR Times!]

The title of Ranma 1/2 episode 2 will be “I Hate Men.” The episode will feature Ranma starting his school days with Akane, but when they get to the school, tons of guys are waiting at the front gate to ask Akane to be their girlfriend. Kuno, the president of the kendo club, is one of them. Though he was in love with Akane, he falls for Ranma after Ranma transforms into a girl, leading to shenanigans.

Here are some screenshots from Ranma 1/2 episode 2:

As for the new Ranma 1/2 anime character Ichirou, he is part of the broadcasting club and has a unique way of speaking when he’s commentating on matches or battles. Apparently, he has the nickname of “The Wizard of Words,” due to his creative usage of vocabulary. Seki, his voice actor, stated that he had fun performing and the director told him to adlib some of the lines as he goes. Tomokazu Seki is a veteran voice actor whose prominent roles include Gilgamesh and Mozart in the Fate series, Kanji in Persona 4, Domon in G Gundam, Enrico Pucci in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Kogami in Psycho-.

Ranma 1/2 (the 2024 version of the show) is readily available on Netflix.

Despite feeling like it just started yesterday, the Jujutsu Kaisen is nearing its end. In fact, the manga might already be over by the time you read this if you wait until September 2024. Without a doubt, it is one of the most extraordinary shonen manga series in a long time. But I still feel the best part and arc of Jujutsu Kaisen is the beginning, consisting of arcs like Cursed Child, Fearsome Womb, and Vs. Mahito, that kicks things off..

In hindsight, the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen feels so different from the rest of the series. It initially kicks off in an almost horrific way. The weakness of Yuji Itadori against the curses he suddenly discovers is so fascinating. In addition, the gore felt so surprising and in stark contrast to the other, similar shonen series running at the time.

While elements of this introduction carried on throughout the rest of the series, such as the gory action, things eventually change. Gege Akutami pursues such a different vibe from the Kyoto Arc forward in Jujutsu Kaisen. Perhaps the greatest example of this is the more personal and focused nature of the early arcs of the series. It isn’t all about citywide destruction and unlocking new powers.

Instead, the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen that starts with the Cursed Child arc is simply about surviving excruciating missions against curses. The main characters, especially Yuji, have genuine character development due to their new circumstances. My personal favorite part of the entire series happens during the Vs. Mahito Arc. It's when the villain really appears for the first time. The initial impression is incredible, and only builds from there.

Mahito’s unhinged, terrifying nature is on full display here in a way that stings even more than his appearances later in the series. He feels like one of the most horrifying anime villains in a long time. We witness a man that is willing to massacre anyone and anything in his path. Worse still, he feels unstoppable at this point.

To make it even better, my favorite character in the series, Junpei, gets his moment here. Junpei is by far one of the most complex characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. His relationship with Yuji still feels like the most emotional for the protagonist, even as we near the end. It is here that Yuji is pushed to his limits and grows as a character in a much more natural way.

Jujutsu Kaisen best story arc and part

This isn’t to say there is no development for Yuji later on. In fact, it’s quite the contrary. My only issue with Jujutsu Kaisen is sometimes the character development and deaths Akutami used feel too forced or there just for shock value. Don’t get me wrong, I adore the onslaught of twists and turns.

But I also prefer the centralized nature of these early arcs. The twists in the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen are fewer and far between. This allows them breathing room to have enough attention and development. As such, they are still the most effective surprises and tragic character deaths, in my opinion.

This idea extends to Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as well. Yuta and Rika’s tale is a heartbreaking one that has the same level of focus and emotional resonance as the early parts of the main series. It isn’t to say that I don’t love Jujutsu Kaisen. In fact, it is quite the opposite. It took time but I adore this series.

Jujutsu Kaisen is by far the best in its category of new gen shonen series by a long shot. It just took time for me to realize that the crux of the series is over-the-top bombastic fights and shock after shock. Once I accepted this, I found this series has the best action out of any other similar series.

In fact, Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the only series of the more mature, gory side of shonen manga to not lose itself in the latter half. I find this to be a huge issue with other similar series like Attack on Titan and Chainsaw Man that almost lost me entirely.

Honestly, I don’t look forward to the end of Jujutsu Kaisen because I’ve enjoyed it so much as a whole. I just still prefer the earlier parts of the manga. This is where Yuji Itadori captivated me as the most compelling shonen protagonist in a long time. He isn’t the typical savior of the world or guy rising from nothing.

Instead, almost everyone hates him and wants him dead. This only made me root for him more in these earlier story arcs. As we near the end of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, I can’t help but reminiscence fondly about this time. After all, it still feels like the best part of the series for me.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is available to read on Viz Media and Manga Plus. The anime adaptation is streaming on Crunchyroll.
