The Ghibli official Donguri Republic store in Japan opened pre-orders for planter sets based on the My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service films. The Totoro planter costs 12,320 (or approximately $82.83) and the Kiki’s planter costs 11,220 yen (~$75.51.) [Thanks, Game Watch!]

Pre-orders are now open in Japan until April 29, 2025, and the planters are expected to ship between May 7-11, 2025. The new merchandise goods are available as part of the Mother's Day gift sets in Japan. The planters come each with different sets of carnations, as well as message cards featuring characters from each movie.

The My Neighbor Totoro set features the popular character alongside other smaller Totoros, and the planter itself is modeled after a big tree stump. Meanwhile, the Kiki’s Delivery Service planter includes Jiji and the logo for the movie’s namesake business. The container is modeled to look as stained glass flowers.

The Kiki's Delivery Service novel series will receive new covers drawn by Spy x Family manga author Tatsuya Endo. This new edition will release to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the publication of the novel series in 2025

The special covers will be available in Japan as part of Fukuinkan Shoten's new paperback edition of the novel series, which is set to release sequentially from February 3, 2025. The illustrations inside the book, however, will be the original. So far, only the cover art for the first volume has been shown. It features Kiki and her talking cat Jiji soaring across the night sky on a flying broom, with the full moon glowing yellow above a coastal town.

If you want to see Kiki's Delivery Service in yet another different art style, McDonald’s Japan held a collaboration with the popular series back in June 2024 and it featured a series of short animations.

The new Kiki's Delivery Service novel series with covers drawn by Spy x Family author Tatsuya Endo will release in Japan on February 3, 2025. The novel was adapted into an anime film by Studio Ghibli in 1989, and it is now available streaming on Netflix.

The Japanese McDonald’s Twitter (X) shared three posts teasing a Kiki’s Delivery Service collaboration. There will likely be toys or a new menu item in the future based on the property.

All the tweets are quite simple, with “This is a delivery” as the only sentence. To be precise, while the art style is similar to Ghibli and the character’s dressed like Kiki (complete with Jiji in the animation with her on the broom), she’s not actually Kiki. The first animation has her flying on a broom with a take-out bag from McDonald’s around the handle. The second one shows her running through a marketplace while holding a bag of groceries.

Previous McDonald’s Japan collaborations include ones with Sanrio and Kirby. Both of these collaborations focused on toys and other small items in the Happy Meals. Sometimes, such as in the case with One Piece, McDonald’s releases limited time menu items.

Kiki’s Delivery Service is an animated fantasy film from Studio Ghibli that came out in 1989. The plot follows a young witch named Kiki, who has a talking black cat named Jiji. She opens up a business in which she delivers goods via broomstick, but when she experiences a personal crisis where she no longer knows what purpose she has in life, she loses both the ability to fly and understand Jiji.
