There have sort of been rumblings about a Persona 4 remake for a while now. However, more credence was lent to rumors when Yuri Lowenthal brought up that he wouldn’t be returning to appear as Yosuke Hanamura. He’s voiced the character in every entry and spin-off. After that, the second and current Chie Satonaka voice actress, Erin Fitzgerald, also mentioned she hadn’t been ed about the project.

Persona 4 is available on the PS2, and Persona 4 Golden showed up on the Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and Persona 4 Revival is in development for the Xbox Series X. Persona 3 Reload is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

First Volume of Metaphor: ReFantazio Manga Debuts

Shueisha announced the first volume of the manga adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio is now available in Japan. It is available via stores like Amazon Japan, which will ship to the US, for ¥572 (~$4). There’s no word on when or if it will release worldwide.

This first volume of the manga is 192 pages long and is only in Japanese. Since the first chapter was about 60 pages, the second 45, the third 45, and the fourth 45, it seems like the first four are the only ones that appear in print. So when the second volume debuts, it will begin with Chapter 5: The Curtain Rises. As far as the story goes, it covers from the start of the adventure to when the Tournament for the Throne begins, Will decides to enter the contest to become king, and the group starts the search for a Gauntlet Runner.

Here's how the cover of the volume looks:

It is possible to read the Metaphor: ReFantazio manga in English even though the first volume is only available in Japan at the moment. MangaPlus simulpubs the new chapters at the same time as they launch in Japan. Chapter 5 debuted worldwide on May 20, 2025. The next chapter will appear on the site on June 19, 2025. Note that this is a title where only six chapters will be available to read for free without any sort of subscription or payment. So once that update drops, it would be wise to immediately catch up so you don’t miss out once chapter 7 appears. Given the current pace of the series, that chapter will likely debut in July 2025.

The first volume of the Metaphor: ReFantazio manga is available in Japan, and the game is on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC worldwide.

See Kotobukiya’s Metaphor: ReFantazio Hulkenberg Figure

We’re one step closer to seeing the full release of the Eiselin Burchelli Meijal Hulkenberg figure, as Kotobukiya shared an in-progress photo of the Metaphor: ReFantazio character on social media. This is a fully-painted prototype, and the announcements confirmed pre-orders will open soon. However, there’s no exact date for pre-orders or its launch.

Hulkenberg is holding a polearm for the figure, and it is the same one that’s shown up in official art and images. She’s wearing her standard suit and armor from the game. This is a more casual pose for the character, even though she is holding a lance, as her left hand is on her hip and it looks like she is walking.

Here’s the full prototype photo of Hulkenberg:

To compare, here’s official character art of Hulkenberg Atlus released ahead of the game’s launch.

This Hulkenberg figure is one of multiple Kotobukiya collectibles based on characters from Metaphor: ReFantazio. First, a Gallica one appeared. After that, it shared one based on Junah. This means Eupha is the only female party member to not get a figure from the company yet.

In addition to figures, we’re seeing other sorts of merchandise based on the game. SuperGroupies made a coat and bag based on the protagonist, which are being sold worldwide.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The manga based on it is running now worldwide, and there’s no release window for the Eiselin Burchelli Meijal Hulkenberg figure from Kotobukiya yet.

Persona 3 Reload Makoto Yuki Nendoroid Is a Basic Figure

Good Smile Company shared the release windows for the new Persona 3 Reload Nendoroid of protagonist Makoto Yuki, and the Basic version of the figure will release later in 2025 in some regions. In Japan, we’ll see it show up in September 2025. The worldwide release is set for Q1 2026

As this is a Nendoroid Basic figure, it won’t be as robust or expensive as others in the line. It’ll be ¥3,900/$26.99. His facial expression is a stoic, neutral one. He also hold his base one-handed sword in his right hand.

Here are two photos Good Smile Company shared with us that highlight how the figure will look:

This isn’t the first Persona 3 Nendoroid, as the original figure based on Makoto’s appearance in the PS2 game debuted in 2022. Since that is a more traditional model, it included extra face plates, hand parts, and accessories. It only showed up once worldwide, and there’s been no rerun since its debut.

While this is a Persona 3 Reload model, it isn’t too dissimilar from the original Persona 3 version. The hairstyle and facial expression are identical to the 2022 release, and the uniform seems almost exactly the same. The weapon is different, however, as the one-handed sword for this figure is an all-silver one that resembles Makoto’s starting weapon and the one with the original figure was a more traditional sword with gold hilt.

The Persona 3 Reload Nendoroid Basic figure of the protagonist Makoto Yuki will appear in Japan in September 2025. It will appear later worldwide in Q1 2026. Pre-orders for it will close on June 25, 2025. Persona 3 Reload is available worldwide on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the original game first debuted on the PS2.

Chie Satonaka Voice Actress Brings Up Persona 4 Remake

Erin Fitzgerald, the most recent voice actress behind Chie Satonaka, confirmed on Bluesky she hasn’t heard from Atlus regarding voicing the character in any potential Persona 4 remake. This came after Yuri Lowenthal, the original voice of Yosuke Hanamura, stated he would not be returning for any potential updated release of the JRPG.

In Fitzgerald’s statement, she specifically stated she hadn’t ben ed about possibly playing the character again in a remake. She also expressed her joy at being able to play her in the entries and spin-offs she did. Here’s a screenshot of the Bluesky post I took.

Yuri Lowenthal later removed his statement from social media after making it on May 28, 2025.

Erin Fitzgerald is the second English voice actress for Chie in the Persona series, and she debuted in Persona 4 Arena. Atlus then had her take over the part for the Persona 4 Golden releases. She also appeared in both the rhythm game and Etrian Odyssey-style spin-offs and anime adaptation. Prior to that, Tracey Rooney played the heroine in the original game. If we do see a Persona 4 remake, that would make the third Chie Satonaka English voice actress for the series.

Atlus didn’t make any remake announcement yet. Summer Game Fest 2025 is upon us, so if any reveal does come up it could be at one of its showcases. So far the only recent remake of a JRPG in the series is Persona 3 Reload. That debuted in 2024. The initial release only included the base game, and the FES content appeared later as DLC.

Persona 4 is available on the PS2, and Persona 4 Golden showed up on the Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Persona 3 Reload is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Yuri Lowenthal Discussed Being Yosuke in Persona 4 Remake

Yuri Lowenthal took to Bluesky to discuss the possibility of him playing Yosuke Hanamura in a possible Persona 4 remake. He definitively said it won’t happen. He also said, “…They don’t want me to come back.” He voiced the character since the original game, which debuted in 2008.

Here is a screenshot of Lowenthal’s statement on Bluesky. In it, he addressed the fact that multiple people apparently brought up the question. He also referenced a possible Persona 4 remake, though Atlus hasn’t announced any revival project for that entry.

Yuri Lowenthal has been the English voice actor for Yosuke for multiple Persona 4 projects and general Persona games. In addition to playing the character in the original game and Golden update, he also played the role in spin-offs like Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4: Dancing All Night

If a Persona 4 remake did happen, it wouldn’t be unprecedented for Atlus to go with an actor other than Yuri Lowenthal to play Yosuke. When the company made the  Persona 3 Reload remake, it went with an entirely new English cast

Persona 4 is available on the PS2, and Persona 4 Golden showed up on the Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Atlus hasn’t announced a remake of it, but did release a remake of Persona 3 in 2024.

SuperGroupies Metaphor: ReFantazio Protagonist Coat Could be Used for Cosplay

SuperGroupies announced a Metaphor: ReFantazio clothing and accessory collection that includes items based on the protagonist, like Will’s coat, and could be used for everyday use or worn as a cosplay item. A Protagonist Model Trench Coat and Shoulder Bag will both be available in “late” November 2025. As a reminder, Super Groupies did note that Trump tariffs will affect prices for those of us in the US, so it is important to keep in mind possible “tariff adjustment charges” before using the worldwide shipping option to purchase any items.

The SuperGroupies Protagonist Model Trench Coat based on the one Will wears throughout Metaphor: ReFantazio is the more expensive of the two items at $299.99, and it is also the one that most resembles the actual jacket that is close enough to the real costume that it could be used for cosplay. It is a double-breasted style with a light white and grey plaid print. There’s a belt at the waist, and there is an optional, removable throat tab designed to resemble the armor at the neck in-game. The interior tag resembles the novel our avatar carries, and there’s a reference to Gallica with a gold silhouette on the inside as well. It is available in sizes medium through XXL. It is also a unisex style, so anyone can wear it.

Here’s a closer look at that coat.

The $239.99 Protagonist Model Shoulder Bag is inspired by the one Will carries throughout Metaphor: ReFantazio. It’s not an exact replica, however. It is about a foot tall and is over 15 inches wide. It comes with a shoulder strap that is about 55 inches long, so you can wear it cross-body. It can hold B4 size papers and books. It also has a tag inside that resembles the novel in the game and matches the tag in the coat.

These are the first photos of it:

This isn’t the only SuperGroupies item that could be used everyday or for cosplay. The Vash coat in the Trigun Stampede collection could be as well.

Pre-orders for the Metaphor: ReFantazio Protagonist Model Trench Coat and Shoulder Bag are open until June 15, 2025, and the items that can be worn everyday or used for cosplay will launch in late November 2025. Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The manga based on it is running now worldwide.

Preview: Raidou Remastered Offers a More Active SMT Experience

The original Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs the Soulless Army came out worldwide right before Persona 3 launched and basically showed a larger audience how incredible Shin Megami Tensei games could be. As a result, it ended up not getting the response it probably deserved. Now it’s 2025 and SMT is practically mainstream thanks to the success of entries like Persona 4, Persona 5, and SMT V, and this spin-off series is getting a second chance with Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. I’m so glad, because it seems like the remaster really emphasizes how entertaining it can be.

We’ve seen different types of devil summoners throughout the SMT mainline and spin-off series, and one of the interesting things about Raidou Remastered is it starts with someone who knows exactly what they’re getting into. Things begin with a person from the Kuzunoha Village going through tests to see if they are worthy of becoming the next person to take on the name of Raidou, allowing them to serve the village and country of Japan by protecting the capital from malicious demons and ill-intentioned individuals willing to use the supernatural in unscrupulous ways. It’s a tutorial to introduce each element of combat, while also get someone accustomed to the action-RPG where our avatar fights alongside two summoned demon allies. The combat system feels tight and responses, and even during my brief preview session I could find and buy Skill Books to add more spells to my initial demons’ movesets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ertwE1ZSY8&ab_channel=OfficialATLUSWest

It’s this combat system that feels quite different from installments like SMT V, Persona 5, and Devil Survivor. Turn-based is absent here. Directly controlling your demon allies? Nah, you’re mainly just suggesting or letting them do their thing. Raidou himself can use light and strong sword attacks, with even aerial and plunging ones being an option, pull out a gun for a succession of shots, and use elemental magic. Even capturing is more active than in other installments. You’ll need to run up during a fight to attempt to Confine a foe with a flurry of button mashing, with your level and expertise determining if it’s even possible or you have enough room for a foe. Loyalty ends up being a factor and mattering, with demon allies gaining it alongside experience as you fight together, allowing for bonuses once that relationship is maxed out by working alongside each other.

Demons also feel like partners in another way. As part of his new responsibilities as Raidou Kuzunoha XIV, he works at Narumi Detective Agency. His boss there, Shouhei Narumi, works with Yatagarasu, who manages agents like the Kuzunoha. As such, the cases taken tend to involve demonic involvement. This means that the story portion does involve investigating cases. Calling these demon allies to appear alongside you to perform actions, such as Ukobach to Ignite ion or fury in a person to get them to reveal details or Alp to read minds, or to switch control over to one of them for a Solo Investigation segment to access an area that Raidou can’t. Some especially relevant demons I encountered while going hands-on with the game, like characters we’ll encounter, feature voice acting.

My time with Raidou Remastered ended up being something of a limited session that involved only initially seeing what it’s like to fight alongside demons, take part in a larger investigation, and explore the counterpart of the Capital in the Dark Realm. This is a space between the human and demonic realms, and it’s something of a counterpart filled predominantly with hostile demons. (Friendly ones are there too, as a more amicable Pyro Jack and Alp appeared in my first journey into the area.) It serves as the dungeon experience, mirroring the real world and offering challenges to overcome with the right demon types or boss fights. Save points appear often here, and the quicksave feature is present both here and in most other parts in the “real” world.

Raidou Remastered seems like it will be a promising remaster from Atlus, as well as an opportunity to introduce a larger audience to an interesting Shin Megami Tensei game. From my early hands-on experience with it, I noticed it swiftly gets people introduced to the character, demons, world, and combat system. From there, it starts to set up a mystery while showing exactly why the Raidou Kuzunohas who apparently appeared over the years matter. It’ll be interesting to see how people respond once it drops in June 2025.

Persona 3 Wilduck Burger in real life

Sunshine City Prince Hotel has revealed that it will temporarily run a collaboration restaurant based on Atlus' Persona 3 Reload. It will also have non-alcoholic drinks themed after the characters at ¥1,500 (~$10.30) and alcoholic beverages based on their respective Personas at ¥1,800 (~$12.35).

The restaurant will also hand over a random rectangular placemat for every Persona 3-themed meal ordered and a circular coaster mat for each drink purchased. The designs shared will only be available during the first half of the event's duration from June 6, 2025, until July 3, 2025. The company also announced a Raidou Remastered social media contest that involves a chance to win a Raiho plush, which is a stuffed toy that makes a Jack Frost look like Raidou Kuzunoha XIV and is based on a fusion in-game, and shared some things we can unlock as we play.

In the case of the Raidou Remastered free DLC, it is called Demonic Designations: Summoner Titles. In March 2025, Atlus called for people to submit potential titles that could appear in-game on social media. This add-on will consist of those. Seven of them will be taken from people in North America who responded to the hashtag, and another three will be from Southeast Asia region responses. We don’t know which titles will be in it yet.

As for the unlocks, they are all things we can experience either in our first run or subsequent Raidou Remastered playthrough. As mentioned earlier, we can get Raiho in-game. However, we will need to unlock that special fusion to gain that ally. There will also be certain Case Files that are optional sidequests. As we explore and go through the game, we can pause and assist other people and demons with their troubles. Finally, beating the game once unlocks the Detective Legend difficulty. This will be the most challenging option.

In the city, we’ll get to go through Tsukudo-cho, which is where the Narumi Detective Agency headquarters is, Fukagawa-cho, Ginza-cho, Harumi-cho. You can play mahjong at headquarters, and that are a also features the Konnou-ya store. Ginza-cho is home of the Ryugu restaurant and Shin-Sekai Soda t. And in Fukagawa-cho, we’ll find Dr. Tsukumo and his Amazing Science Lab.

Finally, there is the Mysterious Cases contest for a Raiho Raidou Remastered plush, which ended up revealed on social media. That allows people in the US and Canada attempt to win one of three of these stuffed toys, provided they signed up for the Summoner’s Guild via the game’s official site. That is open until June 20, 2025, and Atlus will pick the three winners after.

Here’s the image of the Raiho plush:

Persona 5 Akechi Goro Crow Phantom Thief ARTFX J figure by Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya has revealed that it will restock its ARTFX J figure of Goro "Crow" Akechi from Persona 5. Originally available in 2018, the company will re-release the figure in November 2025.

This figure depicts Crow in his Phantom Thief attire, as he holds his mask and saber in each of his hands. The figure has a scale of 1/8 with a total height of 27 cm (~10.63 inches), which is measured from the slanted base to the tip of Crow's head.

Here are some of the sample images for the figure, taken from multiple sides:

The restocked figure will cost 14,300 yen (~$99.10). Kotobukiya has put up a listing for the figure on its own online shop with guaranteed stocks for orders made by Tuesday, June 24, 2025. However, it can only ship the product domestically in Japan. People residing elsewhere worldwide can alternatively place orders on other websites that global shipping, such as AmiAmi and HobbyLink Japan.

Considering the initial release date, this figure is one of the rare entries that feature the original Persona 5 logo. Most of the more recent figures, such as the 2022 Lucrea figure of Akechi in his Loki attire, use the logo for the enhanced Persona 5 Royal, which Atlus released first in Japan in October 2019.

The 2018 ARTFX J figure of Persona 5's Goro "Crow" Akechi in his Phantom Thief attire will be available again in November 2025.
